What is Wishful Thinking?
We always hear people saying, “be positive and it will help you to achieve your goals”.
But that positivity should not blur our vision and take us far from reality.
Wishful thinking is a belief that is based on pleasing imagination, and bias to avoid evidence.
Many of us mix positive thinking with wishful thinking, but these are two very different concepts. Positive thinking gives us the scenario that if we do things correctly with proper planning it can give amazing result. It’s an effective mindset that is also a key to success.
Positive Thinkers are very clear about their ambition and they doesn’t compromise their dreams. On the other hand, wishful thinkers don’t focus on the ground. They don’t focus on their performance, as they mostly are unable to see the real consequences.
How Wishful Thinking Can Affect Your Business?
In an interview Billionaire Elon Musk said “one of the biggest mistake generally people make and I am guilty of it too is wishful thinking”
The hope that “everything will be fine” and based on that not planning our steps may lead us to a great failure on meeting deadlines. Wishful Thinking kills productivity and it is an obstacle to think clearly.
Why We Should Banish Wishful Thinking?
If your business has a long term flaw, you need an honest opinion to sustain and remove that problem from your dictionary. Wishful thinking will keep you away from where the customers are. The faster you can reach there, the faster you will achieve a result and taste the success, and at the same time you will be able to build a strong future.
As per STRATEGISTS ON THE BOARD: FROM WISHFUL THINKING TO STRATEGIC THINKING, a research by Kevin Hendry, Geoffrey C. Kiel and Gavin Nicholson, The strategic thinking role of the board is to continuously develop and renew, in close collaboration with management, the longer-term direction of the firm.
