We are in an unorganized society. If we look around, examples are self-explanatory. Since these are something may not be interesting to many of us, some are just ignoring to talk about them. Some of us do speak our mind, but for a while only.
After any news that shows inhumanity, we feel the necessity to raise our voice. When everyone talks about something and sounds revolutionary, we take a part of that flow. We utilize the power of Hashtag, which is one fabulous part of us. But, after researching on more than thousands of social media-public profiles I noticed something very strange.
Whenever people are talking about something truly important, another incident takes place; and we completely ignore news number one? Well, either ignore or forget.
Let me explain it with two important questions:
How Long You Focus on one Incident?
Check your Activities in Your Social Media.
Social media gave us the opportunity to spread our words. As there are many events around us, our brain becomes confused about how we can move forward.
Let’s take one incident which became a very hot topic in recent days for an example. As a part of the revolutionary generation, you might find some contents that you shared in your Facebook / Instagram Story, you will also find mindful words in your status. Just notice how long you follow that occurrence and keep yourself updated. In most cases, we move towards the next event within some days, and after some time just forget about it.
Do We have Groupthink Effect in our Protest?
Rolf Dobelli, in his “Art of Thinking Clearly”, mentioned about “Groupthink Effect” in the Corporate industry and how that affects our decisions.
If we think about our present scenario, we will see when a bunch of people is talking about something-we also seems to be excited about it. Cursing each other in the comment and wanting badly to reply on our comment.
You might think, well, we can’t stick on the same news for a long time. True. But if you posted “We want Justice” for any murder, shouldn’t you be a bit curious? Even after the buzz is off?
It’s not our fault. With various positive impacts on us, Social Media also has many downward effects too. These platforms are often exploited by people who want to make us their puppet.
Let’s not be one.
